Alu Ibérica Avilés
Avilés, the third largest city in the Principality of Asturias, has always used the orography of its estuary to become an enclave of great economic weight, strongly linked to the industry. A condition used by the Alu Ibérica plant, originally founded in 1959, which currently has 274 employees to produce 80,000 tons of billets and 30,000 tons of ingots annually once the new industrial plan is implemented, which is already adapting the plant for the production of circular green aluminum.
After having made investments in machinery repair and new equipment, and having completed the integration of the management systems with the La Coruña plant, Avilés now faces a sustained increase in production. This growth will be enhanced with the successive stages of the industrial plan: among other improvements, Alu Ibérica will install in Avilés a new foundry technology, a scrap pretreatment plant, carry out logistical improvements in the port and install alternative energy sources to supply itself and reduce energy costs, resulting in fewer emissions and greater competitiveness.
